He was born November 21, 1953 in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of Leroy, Sr. and Earlene (Jackson) Simpson. Herman was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He worked for General Motors for 31.2 years, residing in Kalamazoo for most of his life. He was currently a resident of Auburn Hills, MI. Herman enjoyed tending his plants, studying astrology and going to casinos. Herman was preceded in death by his father Leroy, Sr., two brothers: Hardy and William Lee and one sister, Carolyn. Herman was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. Surviving are: a son, Trevon (Kate) Steele of Lansing, MI; a granddaughter, Clairece Schultes of Kalamazoo, MI; mother, Earlene of Kalamazoo, MI; brothers: Leroy, Alfred O'Neal of Kalamazoo, MI; Willie (Georgetta), Sherman of Chicago, IL, Dana of Atlanta, GA; sisters: Athalia, LaBrenda Jackson, Denise Snell of Kalamazoo, MI; Vernita Grace (Kenneth) Dixon of St. Joseph, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
